Oracle 8.1.7 and 9i running on AIX 5.2

We are having problems with OS halting on our RS6000 7026 servers. They both are running two versions of Oracle. Is anyone else having problems running 8 and 9i together?

I have 8.1.7 and 9.2.0 (multiple instances) on the same box under Solaris. We have some issues with serving all instances by the same listener ( 9i one doesn't work correctly with some 8.0 clients, in fact it doesn't have to :) ), thus we run 2 listeners (8i and 9i) on different ports.
