I want to create a super-duper Visio drawing of my switch that shows all cards and their locations, internal and external cabling connections, elan, clan, ip addresses, pstn connections etc.
Can anyone tell me where I can get an example of a drawing like I described. I'm looking for ideas as to how to lay out my drawing so it isn't so convoluted that it cannot be read easily.

Thanks for the info. Looks cool. Do you have any Visio examples? I want to create an all-encompassing drawing that I can print out on a plotter and wallpaper my office with it.

Thanks for the Visio stuff, very helpful. I think the frame image may be suitable for the core of my drawing however I want to go far beyond that. I've been scouring the internet for a sample drawing and found nothing like what I'm envisioning. I want to create a drawing that is similar to a schematic that includes cards, network and PSTN connections and stand alone servers. I will keep looking. Thanks for your assistance.

You will do the right thing, but I bet your time would also be spent well creating a perfect table format inventory of everything you pay for. And that is guaranteed to result in savings sooner than anything else. I've seen a lot of very pretty drawings of PBXs where nothing that represented cost well enough to say "This saved us $100,000 per year". Take every bill and prove what circuit it includes and why it is needed. The glory is in the dollars, not the wiring.
