I need some input concerning a mayor issue I am having. We have an Option 81 at one of our sites that we just installed. We cutover to a new service provider and had new T1 installed. About once a month the incoming trunks goes down. I believe that the way it is configured is causing the trouble. The question is we have dual channel pri cards back to back in one shelf with 4 pri's installed, each one with its own d-channel. Both incoming and outgoing t's are sharing the card. Is this the correct configuration for this? I am not a Nortel tech but no one seems to be able to come up with the answers. Once we bring down the D-channels to the t's and then bring them back up then we start to get our incoming again. Any thoughts.

take a look at your error counters for that span.
ld 60
lcnt (thenthe loop #)
enter

Since it is a new circuit it could be a junk cable pair..

LD 60 LCNT to see counters
RCNT to reset counters

Add LD 60 to DROL to run and this will reset the counters everynight.

here's a couple of thoughts.. any change on a d must be downloaded to the msdl.. ld 96 map msdl. will show all users on a msdl, then dis msdl x all, enl msdl x fdl, you'll see sdl100 err codes, that's a good thing...

to bring a pri down, ld 96 dis dch x auto, ld 60 disl x (the loop) then enll x, the d will estblish withen 60 seconds.. stat x, lcnt x rcnt x... list counters reset counters.. you may have some bpv's slip's etc due to card reseats etc.. when you stat, you'll see yellow alarm process yes, that's not an alarm. red layer one down, yellow is layer 2... when a pri comes up, the channels may go busy, after the d comes up they should clear..

nothing in your software can cause a problem once a month.. the smallest, slightest software mismatch will show up in a matter on seconds... you may have a hardware problem.. check the lcnt tables.. put ld 60 in your drol, then review your midn to watch for a "dirty" t.. i know most of this is the same for most switches but maybe i translated something to nortel from your switch background.. i have worked on most major brand of switches and this one is a little unique, to say the least
