It's been awhile since I was in charge of a phone, we're making some changes to our ACD Software. Can the Meridian Option 61C Accept Digits and then Terminate them to an Extension?
No, not the phone system. but you can with Meridian Mail, in the form of menus. The same goes with Call Pilot and Symposium (if you write your scripts to accept them).
So here's the Deal ! I have no MER-MAIL, just the 61c and right now we are using CC-Pro. CC-Pro get's the call then routes it to an extension thru the 61c based on the DNIS. We're trying to switch to MCI Web-Center, so that the "Cloud" handles the calls, then routes them to an extension to us. So I'm asking if the switch will accept digits sent to it, then terminate to an extension, which I beleive is how it's already working, I just need to be 100% sure before I open my Big Mouth ;-)
Thanks John I was hoping you'd see this...You always have answers for me. I don't have my books at home though and as it's Friday I really don't want to go back to the office to get them.....I can't remember what IAO is? I think the options are IAO, OGT or IGT....but it's been awhile and I can't remember what they stand for when talking about a DID, as I have to explain this to one of the owners (non-TECH) I was wondering if you, or someone could help me with the Acronym.
did direct in dial, i have 10k did's for my switch, a user dials 434 plus 4 digits. the co (central office ie phone company) sends the 4 digits to my 81 via 2 day did trunks, the switch treats that call just like any analog ext.. if i have a dn programed with those 4 digits it rings.. we use iao did's our pri's .. 22 pri's 23 channels per
always helps to have a tech to bounce idea's off of. if you don't have one. get a copy of procomm and learn script files, i use them on installs, changes, special apps, and mostly anything that requires repeative data input.. taking you cdr or acd data and sending it to a remote drive every 15 minutes is a simple 10 line script, although nortel says it does't work that way.. another app that comes to mind is a simple script that takes the time off of a pc and syncs multi switches once a day.. a networked pc takes it's time from the server so all pc's and all phones are set to the 100th of a second..
I have Procomm Plus 4.7 just haven't re-installed at the new job yet. Do you dial into the switch via modem? or do you have your switch on the network somehow...I'd love to put my switch on the network and use procomm via TCP.
easy way to get into your switch via network is to connect a ethernet to serial adapter. Have it on 6 of my switches. I connect just using telnet. Or if you have a server close by connect the serial interface (comm port)of the server to the Meridian then connect remote to server however you want. Use Hyperterminal or Procomm from the server.
i do have serial servers, lantronix dss100, on my 81 but in the switch room (my office) i use direct connect to my pc. i set my port to 19200 so scripts run faster, two other full time techs use the same type connection but if we are in a remote location we use the local pc using hyperterm to the serial servers. if your using a dumb term, the same connection will work on a pc. when i used to go to different sites i used the core tty, port 21 or 25 behind the cpu's...96 8 none and one
