Option 11C Modem issue

Put on your thinking hats for this one.

Port 0 off the Serial connections on the Option 11C
US Robotics 33.6 and 56K modems provisioned correctly


If I connect a DID line from an analog card and dial into the modem it picks up fine and I get connected to the system.

If I connect a POTS line from the LEC and dial in, the modem will not answer, unless I disconnect the TTY cable. Once connected I can reconnect the TTY cable and it accesses the system.

Does anyone know why this would happen?

Just a shot in the dark but are you sure your modem terminal program is set to the correct baud rate?

Yes, and like I said it will connect with an analog line from the PBX, just not a POTS line.

Now here's another funny thing. If I plug the POTS line into the Call Pilot modem, it answers fine. It will only "NOT" answer on the switch modem.

The only thing that I can think of is some modems are more touchy than others. You may be getting a low ring voltage on the POTS line that your switch modem won't recognise to activate it.

You are using the same phone cord when you moved it over to the CP modem? I'm wondering if the cord may be frayed and grounding out somewhere. A short to ground would suck voltage.

Janaya: I have been trying to connect to a U.S. Robotics 33.6 modem on a remote PBX. The modem will answer but I receive nothing from the PBX .What are the correct setting to be on the remote modem.

deke56: What are the settings on the SSC card? or if not an Option 11C, what are the settings in the CFN for that port?
