We are trying to replace some Teledex phones at one of our sites. We have an Option 11 Nortel PBX. The vendor is asking us what type of messge waiting light signal we need the phones optioned for. They want to know if it's FSK, LED, or Neon. Is there an easy way to figure this out by remotely looking in the PBX or will I need to open a phone and figure it out. Please help. Thanks...

In Europe we've got both high and low voltage versions... depends on the country. An IDC (card ID) should give the PEC (Product Equipment Code - aka Nortel part number NTxxxxxx) and someone should be able to tell you the spec for that card.

Or do a inv generate and inv prt cards...

Thanks for the information. I was able to determine that the cards we are using for these phones are NT8D09CA cards. I have been trying to find the voltage specs for this card, but no luck yet. Does anyone know an easy way to find this out?

NT8D09CA = Extended Message Waiting Line Card

Extract From Line Cards Description NTP...

Ringing power for telephones is 86 Vrms ac at 20 Hz on –48 V dc. The Rsync
signal is used to switch 20 Hz ringing on and off at the zero current cross-over point to lengthen the life of the switching circuits.

Power for lighting the message waiting lights is provided by either the
peripheral equipment power supply or the ringing generator. Logic on the
message waiting line card interrupts the –150 V dc signal at 1 Hz intervals to provide a flashing message waiting light.

I beleive its -150v DC to the Tip lead when activated
You can find that in the circuit card description/installation

Cheers!!
