Hi

I got a traffic study done and found that loop 21 and 22 has high usage. I did a TNB on loop 21 and 22 and loop 21 has some 3903 sets and loop 22 says Virtual type VGW. Any explanation for these 2 loops to have 60+% utilization when other super loops have 10% range utilization?

Are these loops used for other purposes?
Thanks

MJ

You would have to see what the 3903 are used for, I could see if they were in an ACD group but 3903 are not used for that most of the time. The other loop, the gateway would depend on how much IP to TDM you have

60% of what" would be my first question.

High usage loops often contain trunks or modem lines, each of which can generate 3600 CCS each, per hour. In other words, many phones use the same few trunks - and modem lines are often connected non-stop for an entire day.

I've found the time and effort spent "load balancing" is as well or better spent making sure users (and trunks) that perform similar functions are spread accross the system. So if you lose half your shelves or cards, no single department or trunk group is completely out of service

After you have spread your users and trunks around the system that way, then a traffic study "may" be worth performing. And it's likely the system will be better balanced as far as usage.

thanks for the tips. Yes one of the loops has the voice gateway but I'm still puzzled about the loop with 3903 sets, not modems or acd so still digging.
