Hello all, I have been reading most of your posts, very well written BTW, and printed out a bunch for my own information for future use.

However, I saw no posting on changing a user's phone from an Analog phone to a Nortel digital phone, ie, 2008/2616. I am at this because the person who used to be in charge let the company and I "somehow" assumed the responsibility.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Richard

ld 20
luvu
2000

that will give you a vacant tn, then out the 500

ld 10
out
500

then either use the cpy 1 command in ld 11
or
new
2616
x x x x ... the post itself must be on a digital card

Hi John, I did what you posted and it showed me quite a few unused Digital extension. However, the one that I tried to do a stat on, gave the the code UNEQ. What is that and how do I fixed it?

The commands I used:

ld 20
stat 3 14
UNEQ

I tried the next one 3 15 and got the same, however the phone on 3 13 is working.

Thanks for your time and all that respond. You all are awesome.

Regards,

Richard

3 14 is unequipted because it is vacant, not because the hardware is not there.. not a great use of the english lang.

Hi John, so is there a way for me to fix this issue.

Thanks,

Richard

Just go in to LD 20, at the REQ: prompt type CPY 1, at the TYPE: prompt type 2008 or whatever type of set you plan on installing (YOU CAN GET THE TYPE FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE PHONE.) At the TN prompt type 3 14. at the DN prompt type the DN of the 500 set you outed.

That should do it.

Hope this helps

Pyutian

Thank you very much Pyutian. I will go ahead and try that.

Again, thank you all for making my Nortel Option 11 and very wonderful experience.

Regards,

Richard

sorry i wasn't clear, if you stat 3, you will see all 16 voice ports and the data ports.. any of the 1st 16, (0-15) can be used for a new set.. they will stat uneq.. it just means they are vacant and waiting for your magic touch..

Good morning all, sorry to be a pest again, I am still at this. After following Pyutian instructions, I got to the following prompt "CFTN" and I tried tying it "0" or "blank" and it doesn't seem to like it.

What is "CFTN" and what do I need to type in there?

Thanks all,

Richard

CFTN = "Copy From TN" You will need to find an unused TN by doing the following:

At the REQ: prompt type LUVU, at the TYPE: prompt type 2000
Press enter until you get data.

Write down one of these TN's then do the following:

At the REQ: prompt type PRT, at the TYPE prompt type LUDN
Press enter untill you get data.

Write down one of these DN's.

Now do as I said earlier, and at the CFTN: prompt type the TN that you wrote down. At the DN prompt type the DN you wrote down.

After this do a change of the set and change your key 0 to the DN of the 500 set.

Hope this helps.

Hello Pyutian, awesome. Thanks so much for the wonderful help.

I will go ahead and try your instructions.

Thanks once again,

Richard

Hi John and Pyutian, I must be dumber than stone because I still can't get it to go.

However, b4 I go wasting your time, here is what I am trying to accomplish. We are a small company that have about 48 users. We have 2 cabinets and they are 3 digital cards and the rest are analogs. We have 5 users who are currently using analog phones and want to be converted to digital. John, I did what you instructed "ld 20 luvu 2000" and got a response of 18 hits.

My questions is, can I move the 5 analog users tn's to unused digital tn's?
If this can be done, what is the command, please be specific because I still don't undestand the logic behind it. I do have the manual and stare and stare at it but it just doesn't make any sense...., yet.

Thank you both for you previous replies, I am just a little frustrated that I can't make it work with both your help.

Regards,

Richard

What excactly can't you get to go?

Pyutian

Hi Pyutian, thanks for the reply. I think I finally figured out what I am doing wrong. I was typing in type 2008 and trying to cpy 1 from a profile that is of type 2616.

I am just testing with extension that are not been used just in case I screw up. My question is, is the reason to out and extension is so that we can reuse it when we create the digital profile? What will happens to that extension voicemail?

Thank you once again.

Richard

More or less, you could have the number on both. If I have a name assigned already , I make the new 2616 first and then I out the Analog phone.

Hi acewarlock, thanks for your post to clarify so questions that I have.

Thanks to you, John and Pyutian, I will make this work. You guys are awesome.

Thanks,

Richard

Good morning gentlemen, how to do I fix a TN when it has the code of UNEQ?

Thanks,

Richard

UNEQ means that there is nothing built on that TN. Assuming that it is a TN from 0 to 15, you would just build a phone there if you needed one.
