That is correct. Versions prior to 13 can be done via the TTY port by using a "Super" type access code that forces you to reset the login code.
Nortel inproved their security for Release 13. By the way, they have now used this method for Succession 4.5. You can't recover any passwords, only reset them.
Quick question on this, so I can just change the password with the tape or do I need to do a complete install? I have a new customer that don't have his password but they do have the install tape.

As I have stated. Up to Mail 12, It's possible to reset the password via the TTY port. You don't require the Mail Install tape!. For Mail 13, you will have to use the Installation tape & select the reset password option.
You won't have to reload the the mail system & lose the customers data!.
