Hello,

Please help clarify something on OPS$ accounts. To allow OS connection to an Oracle account I have created both a regular and OPS$ account for users (jsmith and OPS$jsmith). This works well.

Are these two accounts connected in any way?

The reason I am asking is that I'd like to know if I need GRANT identicle privs to both accounts or is the OPS$ just a "gateway" to their normal Oracle user account?

Thanks,

Michael42

No, they are independent and require separate privileges.

OPS$ accounts require you logon to the server first (if you created them correctly as INDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY).
