Opinoin on Veritas Netbackup?

We will be adding Unix to our Win 2k network enviroment. & will need a software to backup different OS platforms. We already use Veritas 9.0 for Windows.
Just want peoples thoughts input etc on Vetitas Netbackup w/ Unix?

NetBackup is a great tool for Enterprise backups, IMO. It has great volume management, great tools for reporting, easy configuration, and great monitoring tools. It uses a standard MMC console and fantastic plugin modules..i.e SQL, Vault, Advanced Reporter.

No worries man, we use it here for Unix and Windows clients and it's a great product with top notch support (which is very important). Lots of info on the web and in the manuals as well so many problems can be solve most times on your own. Only slight downside is that you can't backup different platforms together using a single policy (Unix and Windows clients must have separate backup policies), and it's more expensive than it's rivals (being the market leader and all).

We had Computer Associates BrightStor and though it was a good enough product which worked good enough, it didn't do as well as NetBackup and support was not good (took one year to solve a problem hence we moved to NetBackup). It also wasn't as intuitive and easy to use.

Tivoli is another good product but installation and use is not that easy. You've already got NetBackup for Windows so don't worry about using for the Unix clients, it works great and why complicate life with another backup software just for the Unix clients?

The ONE ( HP-UX + Solaris + AIX + Tru64 = Unix)
