operating system unable to load profile

I just set up a new user profile on Windows NT. For some reason I am getting operating system was unable to load your profile. Does anyone know why? thanks.

check that usermgr has the correct profile path and that if the profile values are correct that any used shares are valid and available.
validate by mapping a drive to the profile
net use \\servername\sharename\profilename

check to see if the 'default user' user profile has been deleted or that the ntfs permissions have been changed.
