Opening the Infrared Port on a Thinkpad A31

I have a IBM Thinkpad A31.
I have a Canon BJC-85 that I use with the laptop.

The Thinkpad has an infrared port on the side of it.

Now for the problem
I CAN'T GET IT OPEN!!!!!!

I know all the necessary drivers are installed and I have check the settings on the printer options and the port listing. The only thing I am having trouble is opening the port.

Does any one know how??

There is a little plastic cover piece. I have used it before, in the past, but i can't figure it out any more. Please help. I don't want to have to take a screwdriver to the laptop.

On all the notebooks I've seen with InfraRed, the ports don't open, don't have a cover. They send the signal through the plastic protective lens which is 'invisible' to the IR ray.
