Can anyone tell me how to open a webpage without the toolbar and menu etc. I know how to do it when linking from another page (open browser window behavior), but how do you do it to the index page?

I'm building a small intranet site and I want people to be able to click a shortcut on their desktop which will open the page stored on our file server without all the Explorer tools.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hard code all the parameters in your 'chromeless' script then place the script code (not a calling event) between the </head> and <body> tags, The code will then execute every time the page gets rendered by the client browser.

Chris.

Indifference will be the downfall of mankind, but who cares?

I guess I am leaving myself open here, BUT.

I'd like to see that code. One that will remove menu and tool bar from a window, once opened from the users default settings(which a shorcut or link will do).

You can put the operBrowser window code in the body tag of a page and then trigger it onLoad, thus forcing no menu etc.

crhomeless kills all options...."operBrowser window" gives the option to specify....JavaScript....onLoad or any other behavior will trigeri it...most common use is popup window through the link.
All the best!

From the way i read cobrien11's question he was not trying to open a new window, but have a shortcut to an html page that would strip the menu & toolbars etc off once it had opened.

well...make like u said Cheech...make a Start.html with onLoad to redirect -esentially openBrowser window of Index.html and close the parent opener ....but what is the point?

Yeh Lebisol, i had figured that one out ;-p but the user will still be prompted that their original browser window, start.html, is being closed.

BTW give me a shout on messenger next time you see me online ;-)
