After dowloading Solaris 8 (Intel Edition) from Sun I have burned the image on CD using Easy CD Creator. When booting off this CD all files are copied including the mini root but when the machine is re-booted (& CD removed) then the errors 'disk read error' and 'bogus sector number' appears followed by 'boot: source: open of /etc/bootrc' failed.

I have the same problem (I have version 7 )and I am booting from the boot disk and follow the steps but when it comes to run the instllation I get this error did you find the cure please let me know Thanks
