Hi,

I've just been tried to find out why only one person can open/access a database that's in a shared area. I tried opening the databse from within access using the exlusive / read only options but that didn't help.

The only message I get is that someone else is in the database and I can't open it?

Any idea's?

If the first person in uses any design features that will lock everybody else out.
If users do not have full permissions on the database folder this will lock them out.
If a user is trying to open exclusively when there is already someone in the db they will not be able to get in. Make sure thir default open is Shared (Tools>Options)
And if there is a.ldb file still in the folder when everybody is out of the database, delete it.
