I'm writting a Database interface script that, for security reasons, I only want to run if called from a specific page for instance:
I've looked around and haven't been able to find anything on how I would do something like that. Does perl have this capability or should I be looking else where?

Any help on this will be appreciated.

Not sure about this but you might like to test $HTTP_REFERER.

Thats not a foolproof solution.

Its easy for someone to make a url that contains the
strings you are checking for.

I wasn't suggeting it was.
There is no easy way that is foolproof. If you have any positive suggestions then I'm sure that we'd all love to hear them.

Hear Hear Trojan, I think this is an answer we would all like to have in our arsenal of programing tools.

But alas no one as yet has been able to come up with a real solution, authenticating a request is like searching for the holy grail, it might exist but, no one has found it!
