I got it to work after awhile.
I had to input this whole ldap server url:
ldap://172.100.100.2:389
Once I did that, it worked fine. You might need authentication. Check with the consultant who handles the data part of the network. If that is you, try using any free LDAP tool to check if you can pull information.
