I have a series of metrics that are based on a selection of database tables all contained in the same database.

The metrics are based around two reporting areas. Should I be building one large universe or should I build 2 smaller easily mangeable universes?

I am swaying towards building two smaller universes so they are simpler and easier to 'read'/'manage'. Is this good practise or should one large universe be used?

The universes will be used for pre-ran reports so no users will be running querys on them.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks,

Adam.

It doesn't matter.

If your not giving the universe to the users, then it doesn't matter at all.

From what you described, the universe may be a candidate to be split. But, in most cases, this could be combined with the proper use of contexts.

Bottom line: if you aren't going to give the universe to users, then it simply doesn't matter.
