One of my clients (win2k) cannot get onto the internet via my isa server. The server is working fine for all other clients. I believe this client had been on a previous network set up here that had assigned specific internal IPs. So my first thought was just that IE wasn't set to automatically detect DNS etc. But when I go to Network Connections -> Local Area Connection, then highlight TCP/IP, the properties button is grayed out (I'm signed in as administrator for the domain account. On the local administrator account, this button is not disabled). Is this a registry problem? I can't find any kind of LANNoProperties key or anything like that...

Thanks!!

Sounds like you have a few things going on. First thing to look at is in IE. Check Tools, Internet Options, Connections,LAN Settings and see if your ISA server is listed under Proxy Server. set that if it is not and see if you can get out on the Internet then.

Another thing you can do is to install the ISA Client Software. You should be able to find that at C:\Program Files\Microsoft ISA Server\CLIENTS.

Your IP problem is a bit more troubling and may also be related to your ISA problem. Sounds like your Domain Admin account does nto have rights on the box. Remove the PC from the domain, delete the machien account and re-add it to the domain and that should synch up the admin accounts rights on the box. If your machine account on the domain is corrupt, that would cause you lots of other problems.

Right on! Deleting the domain account and rejoining the domain and then un- and re-installing Firewall Client got the Admin account up and running. Then I checked the LAN Settings on the user account on the client and my server name was missing as was the port number. Adding those and checking one or two other boxes fixed everything. Thanks!
