One of my clients uses NTBackup to back up her data. Whenever she schedules
a new job for weekly. It works at the first backup, but next day the backup
won't work and the report has this message "The saved selection file
"NT\NTBackup\data\Differntial.bks" cannot be found". I asked her to check if
the bks file is in the correct location and she confirmed it is. the below
is one of the backup jobs. any suggestion?

. What is happening is that her security token is expering. Edit the Scheduled Task so that it runs under System rather than user credientials;

. If you choose to add the username as a member of the Backup Operator Group, note this important edit of Dcom:

Use the Dcomcnfg.exe program to grant backup operators launch permissions for Removable Storage Manager:
Start Dcomcnfg.exe, and click Component Services. Click Computers, click My Computer, and then click DCOM config.
Right-click Removable Storage Manager, and then click Properties.
On the Security tab, click Edit under Launch Permissions, and then add the backup operators group.

We still have the same issue after tried all sugestions.

1. doesn’t match this situation. Only one user who is the member of administrator and backup operator uses this computer. For the test, I also moved the *.bks under c:\ and gave full permission to everyone. Still the backup runs just once.
2. Scheduled Task runs under System: Yes.
3. Dcomcnfg.exe program: I thought this would fix the problem. But it doesn’t. When I scheduled to do the backup in 1 or 2 minutes, it works. If I scheduled to run it in a few hours later, it doesn’t and gets the not found report. The Event Viewer lists ID 8017.

According to MS Q828402, MS has a hotfix (19-Sep-2003 01:07 5.2.3790.77 1,168,384 Ntbackup.exe). Does any one have this version ntbackup.exe? I would like to test it.
