Also can anyone tell me what a white plug with 3 black wires and 3 red wires all together and a seperate plug white but narrower that has 2 yellow and one black coming out of the power supply are for?

Those are usually Pentium P4-capable power supplies, the cables provide power to additional features on those motherboards. The power supplies can be used on AMD boards, the extra cables just aren't used/tied out of the way.
