A friend works on a network with two AD servers giving dns and wins. Class b network with only 300 clients, so dhcp not needed. Friends boss came in and configured one ad server to give out dhcp ip addresses, and left the other one alone. Friend can't get ip address via dhcp. I told him to try and unplug server b, and see if he gets an ip address from server a via dhcp. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Hi Glen,

"Class b network with only 300 clients, so dhcp not needed"

I wouldn't want to manually configure 300 clients...

But anyway, I'm just a little confused, are you saying ServerA was setup with DHCP and all clients on the network can now get an address via ServerA with the exception of your friends machine?

Thanks gang. There just playing with it. The 300 pc's already have fixed ip's, so I don't know why there messing with dhcp. Just set one server up to give out dhcp address' and are playing with it on my friends machine. With that many ip's, who'd want to go around and change 300 machines from fixed. Chances are, they didn't authorize it. My friends boss is a nice guy, but doesn't know w2k. Thanks again folks.
