Hi: I am using vfp7 and getting an error I don't know how to track.

"OLE error code 0x.80028019 Old Format or invalid type library"

The program works fine but I get this error when I am writing code, specifically when I use Public in setting up a variable in the init of a form. . .PUBLIC vtrustname for example. . .only place I have run into it so far. . .
(I don't have any OLE objects on the form. I do in the project, but not on the form.)

Any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks for any feedback.
Bill

Sounds like something VFP uses got overwritten with an older version, possible by some program you installed after VFP. I would consider doing a reinstall.

Bill,
MSDN KB article - lists this error, but doesn't really provide any more information. However, since it is an Automation error, it tends to imply that you are using automation in some way.

I suggest you check the versions on any ActiveX / COM / .OCXs you may be using, to make sure the version is up to date. Often freeware or shareware (and occassionally retail) products will install older versions of these files right over the top of more current ones. (Have you installed anything 'suspect' recently?) If a reinstall of VFP doesn't help, you may have to reformat the hard disk and start over.
