Older RAD Problems, (not Fast RAD)

I have an old RAD (the big clunky one that says Meridian on it, not the FastRAD) on a MICS 4.1
I tried F9** and the display on the phone goes blank. I can't do any programming. I can direct connect to it with NRU 9.0. with a laptop.

I swapped with a FAST Rad and did a backup. While the FastRAD was hooked up, I could do F9**, do programming and set a line answer to auto. I also assigned a DID to the RAD so I can directly dial in. But when I hook the old RAD back up, it does not answer the line, and I can't get in remotely.

Is there a different feature and admin code for the older style RADs? What are the limitations? I don't have a manual for it. Any still out there?
Thanks so much

Hey Dee,

One thing I can tell you is that when you do the Feature 9** and the screen goes blank you have 6 second in which to enter the password which is RADMIN (723646).

That should get you into programming. MRoberts

According to the Compatability matrix Mics 4.1 it works only with Fast RAD or Fast Rad 2 .So don't use the old RAD,You can use the old RAD for the 616 or 824 .

Also according to the compatibility chart, it says that the older RADs do not work on the 4.1. Only 1.1 and below. The older RAD2s work on 3.0 and below and the you gotta have a FastRAD or a FastRAD 2 to work on anything above 3.0

Thanks everyone! That should explain it. Guess I need to have a serious word with the installer from back then.

Now, does this mean that I can take this old thing and plug it into a 1.1 that I have and it should work? Can I do a backup through it?

No, the back up and restore TOOL isn't available for systems below 2.0. You could use it (old RAD) in conjuction with Norstar Manager and do a back up that way. But you can't do the B&R tool. MRoberts

The old rad will do the back up and restore through Norstar Mangler as MRoberts pointed out, BUT gad! is it ever SLOW!
Chuck the thing away... or give it to your compeditor >:) and put in a Fast Rad.

Thanks all, I already ordered a FastRAD. Appreciate the help! I do need to read up on the Norstar Manager..
