Hello all,

Can someone point me to a good reference or give a quick explination of how an offset-list works with RIP routing.

Offset-list artificially inflates the hop count (cost) on RIP routes received or sent on specified interfaces. This command is direction specific. i.e. in (received) or out (sent). If you want to manipulate cost in both directions you must issue two offset-list commands. You can further specify which route(s) gets hop count increased by using an access-list that contains only those networks in the routing table you want to inflate the RIP cost on. If you use a 0 in the access-list position the cost will be applied to all routes depending on choice of "in" or "out".
