Hi,

hopefully someone can help - I've been tearing my hair out!

I upgraded a user last week (he is based in Germany and was over in the UK for a week) from Outlook 97 (english language version) to Outlook 2000 (German language version) connecting to a Exchange 5.5 box in the US.

It installed ok and as part of the setup procedure I downloaded an offline copy of the Global Address List. It seemed to go ok.

He went back to his SOHO in Germany and he connects to our network via ISDN then Cisco VPN. When connected he can see the GAL no problems (obviously!) but whn he disconnects and works offline the GAB is not available! I got him to connect and VNC'd into his machine and tried to make an offline copy myself by Tools...Synchronise...Download Address Book... but he gets an error message like:

cannot be downloaded from the Exchange server and update the local copy

sorry - that was his best translation!!

Please can anyone help?

Cheers

Colin

The easiest way is to re-create the ost...

Close outlook, search for *.ost & rename it
Re-start outlook & connect (or work online) then re-synchronise & hope for the best
