I customize Office Shortcut Bar to give me the applications I use regularly. Give it a name. Run "Save Settings". ReBoot. The new bar is no longer there. When I re-create it, if I try to use the same name I am told that a shortcut bar with that name exists and I can't use it. (I have no idea where it exists and can't find it) Definition of insanity: trying the same thing over and over again while expecting different results - OK, I'm insane. I love my shortcut bar on my computer at work and want to use it at home. Any ideas?

Hi, momboyce

Not completely sure I ustand what you are doing.

When you right click on the shortcut bar and click on customize, under the toolbars tab you should see a list of toolbars available, with checkmarks beside those which are activated and the current one in use highlighted.

Is your customized toolbar there? Is it checked and highlighted? If so then when the toolbar starts up that should be the one displayed. It should not be necessary to go thru the save settings wizard or restart - just close the toolbar (right click/exit) and start it up again (start/programs/MS office tools/MS office shortcut bar).

If it still won't stick I suggest asking in the MS Office forum - you are sure to get some help over there.

JockMullin,
When I return to customize the bar I created does not appear on the toolbars tab. It is as if it does not exist at all until I try to re-use the name - then the name is reserved.
I followed your advice and submitted in the Office forum.
Thanks,
momboyce
