Office Closing automatically

I am running win2k pro with service pack 2. I installed office 2000 premium and ran all of the service packs on it...Now when I open anything it will open the program and then close it all by itself....Can someone tell me what is going on and how I can fix it....Thanks

How are you opening the application(s)? Are you double-clicking an icon or are you accessing via Start > Programs > <program>?

Is this happening in every application? Any chance they're opening minimized? Using Word as an example, does it happen if you start Word in &quot;safe mode?&quot; (Start > Run, type WINWORD.EXE /A and click OK.) If Word starts normally, search for NORMAL.DOT and rename it (normal.old) or delete it. This file will recreate itself when Word is relaunched.

You can also use the Detect and Repair option. In Add/Remove programs applet, click Microsoft Office and choose the Repair option. Else, you can remove, run eraser2k.exe (ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/hslfiles)

I tried opening word in safe mode and it still closes automatically. THis is happening with all of the office applications and it only happends after I install the service packs. If I install it fresh with no service packs it works fine but as soon as I apply the service packs it breaks. I am lost!

Sorry for the delay in getting back.

What OS are you running?

Were you running the BETA version at all? If you click Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, look for Office 2000 Premium Edition and remove the program. (Beta version is the only version to have the word &quot;Edition&quot; listed.)

Then, install the Release version of 2000 again. Close everything not necessary and disable and anto-virus software before installing. (At a minimum, close any Office program that appears on the list, including Find Fast, OSA or Office Shortcut Bar.)

Hopefully, we can help drill this rascal down.

I am running Win2k pro. This is the full version of Office2k Premiuim. If I go and uninstall it then reboot them computer then come back and reinstall. The program works fine. This issue does not occur until I go and download the service packs.

Seems like the solution is to not download the service packs but that is almost rediculous...Who knows.

This is issue with ser. pack 2. I had same problem with it. I would love to know fix. We reinstalled and then didn't use service patch to be honest with you.

What Product ID did u use when installing Office.
It did not start with GC6JE did it.
