I have a user with an XP pro laptop and Office 2003 who occasionally attaches to a remote sharepoint portal.

When she opens any new Office document locally and attempts to insert a graphic, she is asked for her sharepoint credentials, even if the document and the graphic are on her local machine. It's not stopping her working but is a bit of a nuisance.

Any thoughts on how to get round this ??

Its part of being a remote site. All programs will need the credentials. One thing to note if you keep the program open after entering the credentials with the remember password checked you will not need to enter the credentials again until you restart the program.

Hi Beowulf,

Thanks for the post. I figured it might be something like that, although I'm a bit surprised the local drive can't be recognised as such in much the same way as domain resources.

Star coming your way..

Thanks

When you are connecting remotely your domain credentials do not get pulled, therefore every program needs to know what the remote site needs for credentials. Usually a VPN will not have this issue. If they were connected within the domain the problem would not exist.

Thankx for the star.
