I am using Outlook Prof 2003 and Word 2003 as my email editor.

I have set up a signature file which is being brought in just great.

Issue is that when I start a NEW, "untitled message" the first line has the Bold and Italics option set ON and the second line has the Italics set and the font size at 24 and Baskerville - lol.

How do I remove these lines from the template that is used when a new email is created?

Is there some Normal.dot I need to tweak?

Thanks ALL!

Thanks

In Outlook, try going to Tools-> Forms -> Choose Form

Then, change the "look-in" folder to "Outlook Folders".

Then, choose "Properties" - I'm guessing that might be where you change those settings.

Also, the outlook template is found at:
c:\documents and settings\yourname\appdata\microsoft\templates\... and is Mail.oft, I think. But I think your best bet is to try and deal with it from the Outlook Forms library. You might can even create a new one in place of the old "Message" form, if it will not let you edit it - not sure.

Ooo, I think I may have found your problem.

Open Word.
Go to Tools -> Options -> General Tab -> Email Options (button), then "Personal Stationary" tab. See if you have anything selected there - it looks like you can format the fonts, etc for new email messages in Word there.

Try that, and let me know. I found that while looking in Google user groups... was an old posting from a few years back.

Here is the link:

Thanks for the info ... some how I have squared it away. I no longer have the first two lines of the email template having all that formatting garbage I mentioned above.

I did tweak thru the Word interface and not the Outlook interface though.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks

Open Word.

that would be tweaking through Word, not Outlook. My first post mentioned Outlook, the last, Word.

Nonetheless, you get your problem fixed. :-)

Agreed!

I fixed my issue 2 days ago before I recieved you kind posts.

Thanks for the insight. I will try to go back and duplicate my efforts based on what I remember and what you have relayed.

I do not have any stationary turned on so it would have not been found in that area.

Maybe I can find the exact tweaks I performed and I will then post them for others to learn from.

Thanks again and have a great day!

Thanks
