Please can someone help ?

I uninstalled Office 2k from a desktop running NT4 sp6.

When I tried to reinstall I just get a message telling me that the windows installer has been updated and to reboot the PC and then re-run setup to continue.

I'm installing from a network share and never had this problem before. Of course the PC has all sorts of strange software on which I don't really want to have to try installing again so I'd quite like a fix for this if anyone know's one :)

The extract from the installer log probably identifies the issue but it doesn't mean much to me !

"Trying to get version of
E:\Office 2k pro\CD1\msi\instmsiW.exe
.. failed, error = 0
IE on this machine has version 6.0.2800.1106
Release IE has version 5.00.0000.0000
Pre-released IE 5 is not installed
E:\Office 2k pro\CD1\msi\instmsiW.exe /q /r:n"

If anyone can help I'd be most greatful.

have you tried the "Repair" option during the install ?

Hi there, it doesn't even let me get that far. Soon as I run setup.ext if comes up the windows message about windows installer and that's that.

I'm going to try using the microsoft windows installer repair tool but I don't think that will help
