Every time I start Word after installing the latest Office Service pack I get the following error:

"Winword.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

I have tried winword/r at the run prompt, It says it's repaired and still does the same thing. I would appreciate any assistance anyone could render.

Thanks,

Rod

Please look at MS article Q316033 "A married man should forget all his mistakes. There is no point in two people remembering the same thing."

...if using WinFax, WFWORD2K.DOT needed to be removed.

also, delete NORMAL.DOT -- after making a recovery copy of it, of course ( it'll recreate itself upon restart pc )

If all of the above do not pan out, try this...it's worked in several cases (from nocrash.com):
After you have receive an error message you must read the file drwtsn32.log (Start -> Find -> Files or Folders -> drwtsn32.log -> Search ...). On the last line(s) of this log file there are clues to determine what cause the problem. ...it was the printer : ...printing on a network printer which is sometimes closed. When it is closed you receive this error message for WINWORD, NOTEPAD, EXCEL and any other text editor programs. When it is open, everything is OK.
In other words...make sure your network printer is connected/online/available or set a local printer as default.

Thank you all. It was WFWORD2K.DOT

Regards,

Rod
