I have a Windows 2000 Pro workstation that has Office 2000 Pro installed which is connected to a Novell network. When trying to save or change an Office document (Publisher and PowerPoint so far) to/from the client's server folder I keep getting error messages of not having the proper permission. I've gone into the files in question in the server folder and have changed the access permissions. However, I still keep getting the error messages. Is there a setting I'm missing at the workstation? By the way, I've tried changing the file permissions while logged in both as the user and as the system administrator.

Are you able to save the file to a local disk?

If so, it is likely that the directory permissions in 2000 or the user rights in Novell do not allow you to write to that directory/drive.

If this is the case you have to change the rights on the host server and not from a workstation. Since rights are inheritable you'll need to be careful not to update an entire group of people as opposed to just yourself.

Good luck Mahalo,

Mahalo,

I've already gone through what you're suggesting as I mentioned in my original post. The fact I did this and still get permission errors is my dilema and why I posted. Thanks.
