Hi,

Got Office 2000 Pro with Volume Licensing and I'm about to send out the standard .MSI and our own transform file out to all stations.
Problem is after its installed its asking for the Product Key.
This needs to be manually entered at each station the first time you use Office.

I'm all confused with Microsofts licensing and I had play in the purchase of it. So firstly if we are using volume licensing should our copy of Office even ask for a product key?

If so is there any way to send the key out to the workstations in a non-dubious fashion?

Thanks in advance

Ash.

Do an administrative install of office on the server. This is done through the setup.exe /a command which will prompt for the location to install and will then prompt for product id and the information needed for the clients (organization and such) then do the software install using your .mst file in the modifications section of the software package. Make sure that you have adequate licenses for the installations. You will not be prompted for them on installation, but if M$ does check you will need to have the proper amount of licenses for the number of installs.

Excellent - many thanks.

Ash

If you have your GPO uninstall this office MSI when no longer needed and another user logs on that needs it. The product key will be needed when it reinstalls

even if you do the admin office share install
