More problems! There is a random pattern running across the screen, best described as similar to co-channel interference on a TV, sometimes with vertical stripes, other times diagonal flickering. I assume it's a beat frequency from something but this changes with time. All the while the graphics remain as they should, just this patterning over the top. It isn't the monitor as i've swapped. I've reloaded the latest video card driver, checked seating etc.,scanned for viruses(getting desperate!). System win98se,p3-600,ati all-in-wonder 128 pro graphics, qdi mobo. Any ideas?

A bit more info. for the technical bods-this patterning is also present if I enter bios setup, ruling out software? Also, if I count the no. of vertical banding cycles on the screen and multiply that by the horizontal scan freq. I get an interfereing freq. of about 400kHz. Could this be the power supply-what freq. do they work at?

Done some swaps, seems it's the graphics card. Never mind.

sounds like an interference problem try moving the entire system to a new location way far away to ensure it is not near an EMF source. Also if you are using a monitor extension cable that is not triple shielded, it can cause that problem. maybe temorarily try a diffent monitor to ensure it is not a monitor problem. - Dave
