ODBC -- update on a linked table failed

I am running SQL Server 7 on Win 2K. SQL is a backend for my Access 97 database. I can view all of the information, I have no problem deleting records. The error shows up when I am changing a record.
"ODBC -- update on a linked table 'Main' failed"
Please help.

Are you sure you have the rights in the SQL database to update the table?

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I am sure. I have installed SQL on my workstation, I have all of the administrative permissions set and public permissitons to allow update, delete...
I can update some of the records at random. If I change one field and save, changing the second field gives an error.
