I have a send mail script on an ASP page that uses CDONTS. When I test the script on my machine it works fine. However, when I execute it on my webserver, I get the following error.

error '8009000f'
Object already exists

CDONTS is installed on my webserver which is running Windows 2000 server and is up to date on all service packs. The Cdonts.dll file is also the same version as the one on my machine which is running W2K professional. We (My systems Engineer and I) have tried uninstalling SMTP Virtual Server and reinstalling it. There is also no email software installed on the webserver, and email is not routed through it either. We have pretty much exhausted our resources. We have tried Google searches and News Group searches and the closest thing I have found to an answer was an article on Microsoft's web site, but that was for clustered servers running Microsoft Exchange and really didn't apply to my situation. We have also checked permissions. Has anyone ever encountered anything like this before? Please help.

Thanks in advance,

When using CDONTS mail functions, you must have the SMTP server running on that machine as well. You must configure it for your external OUTGOING mail server, and you must also configure how the individual site (in it's properties) should send mail. If you can't get things to jive, let me know, I may be able to help.
