We've dedicated a box to run SurfControl, a web filtering product. The newest version runs on WinServer2003 so that's what we installed. Just installed the NW6sp2 client yesterday and can't login (to Novell). Advanced login says it can see the server, tree, context but won't accept the login. Similar thing happens in WinXP if you have the native Firewall enabled. I checked that and it is not. I am going in to Win2003 as admin.

Anyone know what feature/function of an out-of-the-box install of WinServer2003 may be getting in the way of Novell authentication?

Thanks, jgiles

I don't know W2003 specifically, but you need to make sure TCP port 524 is open, that's what is used for NCP. A simple test is to telnet to the ip address of the novell server and to port 524. If it doesn't connect, you know something is blocking it. If it connects and the screen goes blank, you're in and there must be something else wrong.

Also that client version you mention doesn't make sense. It should be v4.9x.
