Hi everyone,

I am not a Win 2k boff and have the following two questions. I would like my Num Locks to be active and my User Name for my login to appear in the login window when Win 2k starts. I believe that this can be done.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

To set numlock:
- My Computer->Properties->Advanced->Environment Variables.
- Click "New..." under the "System variables".
- Fill Variable Name with: NumLock
- Fill Variable Value with: On

To display last user name in logon:
- Start menu->Administrative Tools->Local Security Policy
- Expand Local Policies->Security Options
- Look for "Do not display last user name in logon screen" on the right windows, double click, select "Disabled"

Regards

There was a post pointing to 2 appropriate M$ KB articles here yesterday! Seems to have gone.

You can use x-setup (
For numlock, from its default UI, Startup/Shutdown|Windows NT/2K/XP|Startup|Inside Windows Login|Login Window:Options

For username, from its default UI, Startup/Shutdown|Windows NT/2K/XP|Startup|Inside Windows Login|Login Window:Last User or Next Username (so it displays either last username logged on or specific username - eg yours).

Thanks guys all working fine.
