My numerical keypad is not working properly. The keys do what they are supposed to when the Num Lock key is off but do nothing when the Num Lock key is lit. Ive tried different keyboards but get the same results. I can't seem to see anything in the bios that would effect this but that's an area I'm not that familiar with it.

Thanks for your time consideration,

Randy

That's strange. Are you sure that when the Num Lock key is off, it works?

The keys have multiple functions as you can see. The 2, 4, 6, & 8 keys are also arrow keys. When the Num Lock is off, as you mentioned, they should work fine. However, when the Num Lock is on, you have to be in a text editor or window of some type to see the numbers being typed...

Thanks for the response.

I can go to notepad and create a document and with the Num Lock key off the arrow keys '2,4,6,8' will traverse the document as they are supposed to. With the Num Lock key on no keys work except the Enter key and the plus key when pressed works as my right mouse button key.

Changing the Default State of the NUMLOCK Key (Windows NT/2000)
---------------------------------------------------
NumLock is a nice button to have on your keyboard, especially if you do a lot of spreadsheet work with numbers. Sometimes, it's nice to have the NumLock automatically come on (as if one button was difficult) or not come on, depending upon need. You have a couple of options: The first is to take a look at your CMOS to see if there is a switch that you can toggle to turn the Num_lock on or off. I do not recommend this, because if the Windows setting is the opposite, it will just flip it the other way. Also, messing with the CMOS is dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. The second is setting the NUMLOCK = ON or NUMLOCK = OFF in your CONSIG.SYS file. You can also change your registry to toggle the NumLock, but I don't recommend this.
