I hope this doesn't sound like a really stupid question, but I need some help and don't know where else to ask. I have created fairly simple forms on a client's website. The user fills out his order info, the results are emailed to my client and then the order is processed. There is no pricing info or shopping cart stuff here, just regular html forms.
Now my client wants a number to be generated each time someone submits the form, so that they can use this as the order number. It seems to me that the only way this can be accomplished is to add some sort of database to the website and attach the forms to this. But maybe I'm totally screwy. Is there any simple way to get a form on the web to generate a number on the results when the submit button is pressed?
If I'm in the wrong forum, someone please point me in the right direction.
Thanks!!!
