Hello,

In Clipper I think many feel using Clipper indexes (NTX) should be avoided like the plague. Are Clipper index files more stable in xHarbour?

If not can anyone point me to some snippets or the like that cover common CDX best commands and practices? I know very little about using CDX's.

Thanks,

Michael42

NTX indexes tend to be corrupted easily.
CDX indexes are smaller and contained in just one file.
Less write/read overhead and faster.
What more do you want?

rob444,

Thanks for the advice.

Can anyone answer these newbie CDX questions:

1. How would you create a CDX type index (tags I guess they are called)?
2. Once created how would you open the database using CDX indexes (i.e. how would you use the USE command?
3. How do you change the active index (tag)?

Thanks again,

Michael42

If you're using clipper 5.2 read the C52G07B norton guide chapter 4.
