I'm running fpw26a in XP Professional and I get this error each time I try to open a report.
ntvdm.exe aplication error
"The memory could not be written"

While I don't work daily anymore in FPW, I've been using XP Pro since last October and haven't seen this error. How much memory do you have on the workstation? Do you have a MEMLIMIT in your CONFIG.FPW? (I use MEMLIMIT = 80, 2048, 16384, and have found if the max is greater than 16384 there can be various problems.)

Are you running a virus checker, and has it been configured to take FP into account? What other apps are you running at the same time as you are running FPW?

I too have encountered this problem with XP Pro and FPW26a. The error window entitled "Microsoft FoxPro: ntvdm.exe - Application Error" always pops up when attempting to open a report, screen or label.

The exact error message is: The instruction at "0x77f52cd0" referenced memory at "0x00a20553". The memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program.

The message is always the same, including the referenced memory location. My MEMLIMIT in CONFIG.FPW is exactly as Rick suggested. No other Windows applications are running and the Norton anti-virus program was uninstalled.

I have tried the shortcut option to "Run in separate memory space" and have set the compatibility mode for Windows 98. FPW26a was installed on another XP machine in the office, and although no error was generated, it may take 60 seconds or more to open a simple report.

We still maintain a few FPW26 applications, so for now, I either use two computers or just multi-boot into Windows 98 for FPW26 apps and XP for VFP6.
