While searching for a file in my "WINDOWS" folder if found about 150 files with names like:
$NtServicePackUninstall$
$NtUninstallKB824105$
$NtUninstallWudf01000$

Does anyone know what these are? Some are quite large eg. 7 megs. Can they be deleted or am I stuck with them for all time? Is there any sort of utility available which searches out and cleans up redundant or useless files?

They are folders & should be in 'blue' meaning they are compressed. If you delete them you will lose the ability to remove updates - because that is what they are - all your updates since installation.

However I am not sure whether you should simply delete them or should use some approved method. If you are certain you will never need them I guess they can go. I've always been to scared to and since mine only occupy some 350MB of an 80GB disk I guess I can spare the space.

Thanks, stduc. Think I'll leave them alone, also.

Btw, I married Miss Left. And she did.
