Hi,

Under sites and services, I can see all our domain controllers. I know that the replication partners are automatically created when a server is added as a DC. We have 5 DC's in total. All of them are catalog servers except for the main DC.

I notice that each DC only has 2 replication parners under NTDS settings. Why is this. Shouldn't each server have all of the other services as replication partners? I know that DNS and WINS is configured correctly on all the servers.

Should I manually add replication partners, or is this behaviour normal?

Thanks,

Julian

As i understand it, all DCs should be peers.
i don't now why you have setup so many GCs but then again i don't think it should make problems.
try the replication monitor from the support tools, i think it will show you in greater detail, what is replicating with what.

support tools is on the win installation CD under /support

Those replication links are added by the KCC automatically. Unless you have some link issues with bandwidth/costing there should be no need to modify those.

Out of the 5 DCs i have, 3 of them have 2 connections, and the other 2 have 3...go figure.

Hi,

Thanx for the replies. My 5 DC's can be broken up as such:
Note that I have a main site (A) whith 3 remote sites coming in via diginet lines. Therefore each site has it's own GC.

DC1 (main domain controller for domain - not a GC)
DC2 - GC for site A (main site)
DC3 - GC for site B
DC4 - GC for Site C
DC5 - DC for site D
