Ntbackup

Hi

I have a problem with my backup. It started with BackupExec but I have finally pin it down to the Microsoft server 2003 OS.

When I try to take a backup with backupexec or with Ntbackup locally on the server the writers used to take backup of system state are timed out.

I don't belive that I'm the only one in the whole wide world having this problem. If there's anyone who knows anything regaring this please answer.

Are you attempting to backup both the System State and the Exchange Information Store int he same backup? There are problems with doing both at the same time.

Thanx for your answer. The only thing I'm trying to backup with NTBackup is the system state. All the file backup are backed up in BackupExec.

It all started when i couldn't make backups of the Shadow Copy Componenet's in BackupExec, that is system state and service state of the server. The writers used to make a snapshot of the system state and service state was timed out and the backupjob failed. I tried to troubleshoot BackupExec but I realised that the error lies in the Server2003 operating system becauase the NTBackup is generating the same error.

The only thing that really is bothering me is that all the hotfixes from Microsoft considering VSS or snapshot technics are all implemented in the SP1 of Microsoft Server 2003. Of course is SP1 installed on the server but I still have a problem. I'm running out of idéas. If you have any idéas please let me know

Just want to verify you install Windows 2003 SP1 AND SBS SP1 right?
