hey

this is what i want:
- I schedule a job, one job, that will run each day at predefined time. then, i want this job to be independent of a DAT Tape. I have tried numerous times and I cannot make single job to run on 2 or more different DAT Tapes, even if I label them with the same label. It is saying that the tape is not there, like the drive is loaded....when I put back the track I have created the job, the initial one, the job resumes working. is this a deficiency of ntbackup?

or please instruct where to look further for more info...a forum or something?

googling didnt provide much help...too much unrelated info for my case...

thanks.

You need to use the /UM switch for "Un Managed". You should also remove any entries for the tape name in the job.

Post your actual command being executed in the Scheduled Tasks for more precise assistance.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Thanks Mark. Here is the command being executed. Do I add /UM switch? What would it look like?

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntbackup.exe backup "@C:\Documents and Settings\backupuser\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\test24.bks" /n "test24" /d "Set created 25.04.2006 at 08:14" /v:no /r:no /rs:no /hc:eek:n /m normal /j "test24" /l:s /p "4mm DDS"

Thanks!

Like this:
Code:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntbackup.exe backup "@C:\Documents and Settings\backupuser\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\test24.bks" /d "Set created 25.04.2006 at 08:14" /v:yes /r:no /rs:no /hc:on /m normal /j "test24" /l:s /p "4mm DDS" /UM

Note that in addition to adding /UM I have also removed /n.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
