We currently have a NT40 domain and a new AD domain into which we are transitioning the old NT4 resources.
Thus far we are only transitioning client PCs into the new domain (no servers other than DCs in the AD domain)
When I look in our WINS server records (the WINS server is still on the NT4 domain) I see a lot of strange entries that seem to be coming from the clients which have migrated to the AD domain.
The entries come in 2 flavors - either x(part of usersname)garbagex with a type of D7 (other)
or ws(somenumber) and normal types, instead of the normal machine name.
The clients on the new AD domain are pointed to the WINS server on the NT4 domain.
Does anyone know what's going on here? Is this a problem or more of an annoyance?
Thanks for your input!
