Hi,

I know this is not NT4 forum, but someone might have some tips for me with this sit: I have this small compaq deskpro comp with NT4 on it, it has Win Fax Pro loaded on it and it starts automatically when I turn the thing on.

I installed a NW card in it and then seeing it only had SP3 on it I choosed to install the SP6A on it. I was too sure of myself and did not back up the files..

Now, when I turn off the computer I get this error message: WFXMO32.EXE The application failed to intialized because the windows station is shutting down and will hang there, I will then get the window box asking me to wait of end the process. Sometimes it will show the error message but it will proceed for closing, so it does that intermittantly,
and if I restart the comp quickly, it will hang on reboot, gets stuck at the compaq flash screen.

I put the Win Fax pro service on manual thinking it was that it tried to restart the service when the machine would shut down and then hang up, but that did not change. I could always disable the auto start of Win Fax, but I don't the owner would like that, having to start it manually every time.

Any ideas??

Cheers!

Google shows nothing with WFXMO32. Are you sure that's the correct spelling for this file?

I just installed winfax pro 10 to see what turned up. I find a wfxmod32.exe file. There are some google hits for that-one also references issues with RAS (remote access service). I've no idea what to do from there-maybe that will give you some ideas to work one.

Thanks for the info, diogenes10.

Check for a virus.
If none is found, then see if running 'Last known good configuration' restores things back to their original state.

Thanks - for some reasons now it does not hang - this was after a few re-boots - I get the notify windows but it is quick and the shut down procedure proceed along with no hangs.

Cheers!
